This photo reminds me of my first day of school because I remember the drum-line playing while I walked into the courtyard, worrying pointlessly about whether I would be able to find my classes and if I would be the subject of some awful upperclassmen joke. I think the focus of the drummers also reflects the intensity of going back to school- having to focus on something so specific, listen to teachers and directors, and the overall work of being a student in high school. I also remember being super freaked out about being in the same school as boys with facial hair.

I love this photo and the two gals in it. The wind creates movement in both Haley's hair and Katie's sweater thing, and the light falls on both of them in a beautiful way. This photo was taken on a whim, so it's slightly overexposed (in my opinion), but I think it captures the focus of Katie and the playfulness of Haley.
